Covid-19 Testing Update

  • Latest Betfred Super League Covid-19 test results released.
  • One positive result from all 11 clubs.
  • Warriors receive all negative results.

The early results from this week’s routine testing for Covid-19 across the 11 Betfred Super League clubs have included one positive test, for a non-playing member of staff at St Helens.

The results highlight another set of all-negative results from the Wigan Warriors squad.

St Helens have postponed their planned training activity for today (Wednesday), as the club works with the RFL on Test and Trace analysis relating to the relevant individual.

There will also be a retest of the staff member who has tested positive, but who is not displaying any symptoms – with the possibility of further testing for the squad this week as a precaution.

Castleford Tigers, who played St Helens last Sunday, have also been informed, although at this stage there is no need for any of their staff to self-isolate under the Test and Trace procedures agreed for the resumption of Rugby League with Public Health England.

Neither club has a fixture scheduled this weekend.

Last weekend posed the first round of Betfred Super League fixtures since the restart to have to reshuffle due to positive results, with Hull FC and Salford Red Devils withdrawing from action.
