French: A hard-fought battle

  • Bevan French spoke to Wigan TV after Sunday’s win over Leeds.
  • The full-back scored twice as the Warriors beat the Rhinos 28-10 at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Bevan French admits the 28-10 scoreline on Sunday evening does not represent how tough the win over Leeds Rhinos was.

The full-back was on the scoresheet twice, as Adrian Lam’s side needed to dig deep to come away with the victory in the Betfred Super League Round 9 clash at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

French runs in for a try against Leeds.

Talking to Wigan TV after the win over the Rhinos, the 24-year-old was pleased with the performance of the team, but is now happy to have a week’s rest ahead of the next fixture against Catalans Dragons on 30th August.

He said: “We are happy with the points. We now have next weekend off, so it was a big focus for us to make sure we got the two points.

“I don’t think the scoreline did the game any justice, there was a real grind and it was quite tough. In the middle of the field our forwards worked very hard in defence and attack.

“The break has come at a really good time – when we got back (from the restart) the boys were really putting in the hard work. It had been five months since we last played, so we have come back into two weeks of pre-season and two tough games.”
