One pointers: Classic games

  • This week on Wigan TV we turn our attention to one pointer classic games.
  • Watch games where Wigan have one by a point every day on Wigan TV including one of them on Facebook on Friday as part of Warriors Rewind.
  • Jump into the Wigan TV match archive for more classic matches.

This week on Wigan TV, in partnership with Principal Partner Prestone, we are showing classic games from when Wigan have won by a point.

There have been thrilling games down the years when the Warriors have snatched victories, whether it be by a last minute try, goal or drop-goal to win by one point.

Over the next five days, we will upload a selection of memorable matches, starting from 1997.

Subscribers will be able to watch highlights and the full games with one upload guaranteed each day on the homepage.

We kick the week off with Wigan’s 16-17 win at Leeds in April 1997, as well as the 20-19 triumph against Bradford in August 2000.

Also this week on Friday at 6pm, as part of our Warriors Rewind series and presented by Principal Partner Prestone, we will be ‘live’ streaming one of the games on our Facebook page.

Fans will get the chance to decide which one is streamed by voting in a poll from four options, which will be available on Tuesday.

Trent Barrett celebrates as Wigan win 30-31 at Bradford in the 2007 Play-Offs.
A Sam Tomkins drop-goal sent Wigan through to the Semi-Finals stage of the Challenge Cup in 2017.
A 40-metre drop-goal from Sam Powell saw Wigan snatch a win at Hull KR in 2019.

In addition to this week’s rewind feature, watch hour upon hour of classic match action spanning back through several decades on Wigan TV! In the past ten weeks during lockdown, we have uploaded over 125 hours worth of matches from the 1989-90, 1990-91, 1995-96, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2013, as well as The Lammy Years, Magic from Magic classics and all four World Club Challenge wins.

Whether it’s the chance to re-live the days of Shaun Edwards, Andy Farrell, Martin Offiah and Jason Robinson, or just the chance to smile at some of the amazing scores we’ve seen already this season from the likes of Bevan French, Jackson Hastings and Liam Marshall, it’s all there when you want it on Wigan TV.
