Wigan Warriors Women’s Cailey Miller previews Sunday’s Women’s Derby against St Helens at the Totally Wicked Stadium (1pm K.O.)

The Warriors winger made her Club debut in Wigan’s win over Huddersfield two weeks’ ago, scoring a try in the game: “After being out with an injury for so long, being able to finally make my debut for the Club was just incredible – an experience I won’t forget! It’s every winger’s goal to score but this one in particular was even more special for me on debut.

“I caught the offload from Gabi [Leigh] and saw the defensive cover coming across so chose to take it back inside. After deciding already that the gap wasn’t big enough I stepped inside once more and knew I had to get it over the line that time.”

The Warriors are continuing their unbeaten form in 2023 into June as they prepare to face Saints this weekend: “It’s a huge confidence booster going into the rest of the season. Every week the intensity increases and the team grows in strength, and to see all the hard work we’ve put in so far has paid off is definitely motivating us to keep pushing.

“The younger players have adapted brilliantly, not a single one looks out of place and they’ve all proven their capabilities.”

On the Derby, Miller added: “Derby Day is always such an important game for the team and Club, it would be fantastic to be part of it this year. I’m expecting a physical game from a side like St Helens, we will have to dig deep and show our resilience, but I have no doubt our team are ready to compete with them.”

This Sunday’s game, along with the Warriors Women’s Quarter Final tie with Huddersfield Giants are set to be streamed live as Miller explained: “Continued exposure of the Women’s game is hugely important in growing the popularity of it, drawing in spectators and inspiring future players. Every year the exposure has increased and we’ve seen more and more take an interest in the game.”
