Alcedo Summer Futures Programme
Wigan Warriors are delighted to announce their Alcedo Care Summer Futures Performance Programme for 2023.
This summer programme builds on the work that has been happening so far this year in each half term. Wigan Warriors Community Foundation and Youth Performance Departments have delivered sessions during each half term based on core skill development.
Through the summer we will be utilising the RFL’s Lions Development Programme to provide a performance pathway for aspiring Rugby League players. During the summer, players will have the opportunity to train weekly at Robin Park Arena with our Youth Performance coaches.
The sessions will be designed around developing core skill in the young players. As part of this programme the players will also have the opportunity to be involved in competitive games.
This programme will be run for Players in the following age groups:
- U12’s (Y7)
- U13’s (Y8)
- U14’s (Y9)
- U15’s (Y10)
On the programme, Shane Eccles Head of Youth, said: “We are delighted to be able to deliver this programme this summer, We were part of a pilot trial last year with one age group and are now delighted to be able to work with more age groups. This is a great opportunity to provide these young players a new challenge to be involved in a professional Club’s youth performance environment.
He added: “The players will have regular coaching sessions which will lead into competitive games to provide them with a new challenge working with different players than they usually play with at their community clubs. This allows us to grow our Youth Development Pathway to help us nurture future first team players.”
