After an impressive 2023 campaign, Sam Walters is ready to make an impact for the reigning Super League champions.

Walters started his rugby league career in his hometown Widnes at Halton Farnworth Hornets before he was quickly signed onto the Scholarship books at Widnes Vikings.

In 2018, Walters was part of Luke Robinson’s England Academy squad that beat Australian Schoolboys 2-0 in a historic Test series win alongside current Warriors Harry Smith, Ethan Havard and Joe Shorrocks.

After signing for Leeds Rhinos at the start of the 2019 Academy season, Walters, who stands at 6’7″, hit the ground running as he scored two tries in his first Under 19’s game. He went on to have a stand-out debut year which saw him named as Academy Player of the Year after scoring nine tries in 15 starts.

Walters was also included in the Lancashire squad – alongside Ethan Havard and Brad O’Neill – which came from behind to beat Yorkshire 2-1 in the 2019 Academy Origin Series.

He made a try scoring appearance against Leigh Leopards for Batley Bulldogs in the Championship in 2019, before he made his Super League debut for Leeds Rhinos in September 2020 against Catalans Dragons. Walters’ scored his first try in the competition in his second game against Warrington Wolves.

Walters played two games for Bradford Bulls on dual registration in 2022, before he finished the year off with an interchange appearance in the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old recorded his best season to date in 2023 scoring six tries in 17 matches before it was announced in June 2023 that he would join the Warriors from the start of the 2024 season.
