Rachel Thompson

Rachel Thompson was the first player to sign for the Women’s Team ahead of the 2018 season.

In her debut season, she scored 16 tries in 17 appearances and won the Super League Grand Final against Leeds and became the first Wigan player to score a hat-trick in a Grand final.

In 2020, she was named Captain of the Women’s Team though the team were unable to play due to Covid restrictions.

In September 2021, she was forced off the field after suffering injuries to her ACL, MCL and LCL and missed the 2022 season before returning to action in 2023.

In 2024, Thompson lifted her second trophy with the Club as Wigan won the Women’s Nines before adding a third in June 2025 as Wigan won the 2025 Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup at Wembley Stadium.

Thompson also featured in the Women’s Nines in 2025 as Wigan lifted the trophy for a second consecutive season before lifting the League Leaders’ Shield with Wigan for the first time later that year.
