High school leavers who are looking for some certainty to their future after the early conclusion of their academic term can continue to plan for 2020/21 and beyond by enrolling at The Wigan Warriors Education Academy.
In spite of the physical shutdown of education facilities across the country, we’re continuing to support our current students via a combination of remote learning opportunities and we’re confidently planning ahead for the next scheduled academic term in September by continuing to recruit for new arrivals to come and enjoy studying at our fantastic Robin Park Arena facilities.
Our Level 2 and Level 3 courses are tailor made for 16 to 18-year-olds who are looking for the best possible route into careers in sport and fitness, with our great portfolio including:
Level 2 Sports Coaching and Fitness Instructor
Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Sport (equivalent to two A-Levels)
Level 3 NTEC National Extended Diploma in Sport (equivalent to three A-Levels)
- Level 3 Diploma in Coaching Sport (for year 13 and 14 students)
The courses then feed in to potential Higher Education opportunities, such as our Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching and Development, and our Rugby League Performance Academy for those wanting to get right to the heart of our sport.
What’s more, students have the option of potentially pulling on the famous cherry and white jersey in order to represent the Club in a series of fixtures in the AOC Elite Rugby League competition, with a weekly games programme to compliment an optional daily training routine for any students who want a unique opportunity added to their college life.
Kevin Perry, Head of Education, says that prospective recruits can continue to plan with confidence for 2020/21 and hopes that high school leavers who have been left with more time to consider their options can use the opportunity to take an even closer look at what Robin Park Arena has to offer as an education base.
“Though we’re all obviously having to adapt on a daily basis at the moment for our current course delivery, it’s business as usual in terms of our planning for the next academic year,” he explained.
“With the general public’s fantastic response to the current challenges that our country faces, we’re looking forward with confidence to being able to deliver our course as normal from the excellent facilities at Robin Park Arena when we’re scheduled to welcome our new students in September.
“Our current students love the setup that we can offer, with bright, modern classrooms, excellent access to computer suites and breakout areas at a facility that’s shared with the Wigan Warriors first team, so you genuinely get chance to arrive each day side by side alongside elite athletes and get a glimpse into their world. That’s a real added bonus to a series of courses that are setting you up for a successful career in sport and fitness or countless other related disciplines.
“We offer ease of access on good public transport routes, close proximity to plenty of shops and eating options, as well as the added perk of getting to pull on the famous Wigan Warriors crest as part of the training kit that we provide to all students as their standard daily attire.
“In spite of not being able to offer the personal welcome that we’d normally extend to everyone, we remain available for conversations with prospective students via a range of different communication platforms during this period where we’re all urged to stay at home, so we can continue to give a feel for the facilities we can offer and the range of academic benefits that our courses provide.”
