Wigan Warriors reserves lost for the first game in the 2020 Reserves Championship as they were defeat 30-10 at St Helens on Sunday afternoon.
Six tries for the home side at Ruskin Drive saw them take the derby spoils as touchdowns from Jake Shorrocks and Chris Hankinson were not enough for Darrell Goulding’s Wigan.
It was the Warriors who opened the scoring as Shorrocks went over and Hankinson converted the kick to make it 0-6.
However, Joe Batchelor replied for Saints in the 14th-minute and a Josh Simm try two minutes before half time saw the hosts lead 8-6 at the break.
Two successive tries in the second half from Paul Nash and Sam Royle, which were both added by Lewis Dodd, pulled St Helens away.
Hankinson got on the scoresheet for Wigan with 17 minutes to play, but his effort could not spring a comeback as Jack Ashworth and Lewis Dodd sealed the points for Saints with two late touchdowns.
