Wigan Warriors Community Foundation are looking to fill two roles, a Community Rugby League Development Officer and a Disability and Youth Inclusion Officer.

Based at Robin Park Arena, the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation currently has the two below vacancies:

Inclusion Officer – Disability and Youth Inclusion

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation is Wigan Warriors official charity and uses the power of Sport to make a positive difference to people’s lives. We work across many areas in Wigan and Lancashire delivering a wide range of programmes from rugby league coaching through to programmes that improve health, wellbeing and improving the career prospects of young people and adults.

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced sports coach/youth worker to join a growing and vibrant team, in a new and exciting joint role that will take lead on the charities disability sports offer and also support the delivery of youth inclusion activities, especially for targeted youths at risk of offending.

Salary: £18,000 12 month fixed term contract with a view to extension, subject to funding and performance

You will:

· Work with Wigan Council, SEN schools and projects, Greater Manchester Police and other external partners to identify and carry out conversations and consultation with young people to see what activities they would like to see provided for them in their communities.

· Deliver both disability team sports and youth intervention activities based on consultation and feedback from young people, in evenings and weekends.

· Organise and/or deliver workshops to young people around subjects such as positive mental health, drug and alcohol awareness and future training and employment opportunities.

· Support young people to access inclusive social, leisure and educational activities delivered by the Community Foundation and other partners in Wigan.

· Identify and support young people into social action projects and volunteering with the Community Foundation and project partners.

· Work with selected primary/secondary schools in delivering a range of sports, physical activity and mentoring related delivery.

· Build and maintain positive working relationships with project partners such as Children in Need, Youth Endowment Fund, The RFL, primary/secondary and SEN schools and Wigan Council.

· Monitor, evaluate and compile evidence on the progress of the project reporting back to key funders as required.

· Ensure all activities are correctly monitored with the appropriate risk assessments and health and safety procedures put in place

· Support and delivery on holiday camps, ensuring that every child has a positive and unforgettable experience.

· To work towards key club objectives that will maximise ticketing, match day and promotional initiatives at grassroots level and beyond through all activities delivered.

· Work unsociable hours to include bank holidays, early mornings, evenings and weekends (match days) when required.

You will have:

· A Higher Level qualification in a Sport or Community related subject

· Level 2 or equivalent Youth Work or Coaching Young People with Disabilities in Sport Qualification or working towards

· Additional NGB Level 1 or 2 qualifications covering recognised sports or Multi Skills.

· A Proven track record of working with hard to reach young people or children with disabilities in a youth work or school environment.

Community Rugby League Development Officer

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation is Wigan Warriors official charity and uses the power of Sport to make a positive difference to people’s lives. We work across many areas in Wigan and Lancashire delivering a wide range of programmes from rugby league coaching through to programmes that improve health, wellbeing and improving the career prospects of young people and adults.

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation are currently seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced rugby league/primary school sports coach to lead on outcomes set by Sky Try Rugby League delivery and the joint ‘Club and Community’ development strategy.

Salary: £18,000

12 month fixed term contract with a view to extension, subject to funding and performance

You will:

· Work towards and achieve participation targets set by SKY TRY by delivering rugby league to primary schools across Wigan.

· Ensure effective reporting is carried out, on time, through the online tool Upshot.

· Actively increase the number of individuals regularly participating in sport, developing school club links and give everyone the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

· Support the School Sport Partnership Officer to deliver and grow the Foundation’s PE and School Sport Plus+ programme.

· Develop and deliver programmes that link to both core and extra curriculum delivery for Primary & Secondary schools and maximise the number of partner schools the foundation works with across the borough of Wigan and beyond.

· Support and delivery on holiday camps, ensuring that every child has a positive and unforgettable experience.

· Work towards the key club and community joint strategy objectives that will maximise ticketing, match day and promotional initiatives at grassroots level and beyond through all activities delivered.

· Work unsociable hours to include bank holidays, early mornings, evenings and weekends (including all home match days) when required.

You will have:

· NGB Level 2 qualification in Coaching Rugby League

· A proven track record of delivering rugby league coaching to young people in a school or community environment.

· Significant experience working in or developing sport with young people.
