Farewell Dan Sarginson

Farewell Dan Sarginson

As Dan Sarginson prepares to bid farewell to Wigan Warriors, we take a look back at his time with the Club.

After beginning his career at amateur rugby league club, Hemel Hempstead, the centre was snapped up by London Broncos, formerly known as Harlequins. After impressing in his time there, the 26-year-old joined Wigan in 2014, alongside fellow teammate Tony Clubb.

In a successful debut campaign for the Club, he made a total of 29 appearances, as well as scoring the Warriors Try of the Season in an away game against St Helens. One of his appearances came in the 2014 Super League Grand Final as he was named in the starting line-up that lost to Saints.

His sparkling form for the Warriors saw him called up to the England squad for the Four Nations, where he played two games.

Two years later, he got his hands on the top prize in Super League for the first time, before departing the Club to join Gold Coast Titans in the NRL. In 2018, Sarginson re-joined Wigan and scored six tries in 19 appearances upon his return, as well as helping the Club to another Super League Grand Final win.

He has also been part of some of the Club’s most high-profile games in recent times, including this year’s historic Super League game at the Camp Nou, Barcelona against Catalans Dragons.

Honours

Sarginson has won two major honours during his time with Club.

His first piece of silverware came in the final game of his first spell, as the Warriors took on Warrington Wolves in an Old Trafford showpiece for the Super League crown. He played his part in the 12-6 victory, as his grubber kicked assisted Josh Charnley’s match-deciding try.

Two years later, and back in Cherry and White, Sarginson got his hands on his second Super League title after another Grand Final win over Warrington.
