Warriors Women Head Coach previews Sunday’s Women’s Super League fixture vs Wakefield Trinity Ladies.
Wigan to feature live on the RFL’s Our League app; free to watch from 1pm.
- Women return to league action following their Coral Challenge Cup exit last week.
Wigan Warriors Women Head Coach Kris Ratcliffe believes his side are ready to put in a big response after being knocked out of the Coral Challenge Cup last weekend.
The Cherry and Whites travel to the Mobile Rocket Stadium to face Wakefield Trinity Ladies on Sunday (K.O 1pm), as they return to league action live on the RFL’s Our League app.
Wigan fell short to St Helens last weekend, as they exited the Challenge Cup. Addressing the result, Ratcliffe said: “It was a hugely disappointing performance from us and it’s given us a reality check in the toughest manner possible.
“To defend the Super League crown, we’ve got some improvements to make.”
On the preparations this week: “We’ve had some tough conversations and trained hard. We’ve prepared for a Wakefield side who will be on a high from their Cup victory. I’ve seen Wakefield a few times and they are enthusiastic and energetic; we must match them in both those areas.
“We are still down on numbers with more injuries and unavailability, but that hasn’t affected how we are approaching this game. The players who had a run out against Saints have the opportunity to right a few wrongs at the earliest opportunity, and the players who will come into the side this week have a chance to stake a claim for a more regular spot.”
The Head Coach summarised: “Collectively we are itching to get back out on the pitch on Sunday, make amends and get the result. Our sole focus now has to be on the Super League and defending our silverware. It won’t be easy, but we don’t expect it to be. I’m looking for a big response this weekend and hopefully we will get it.”
Tickets will be available on the day for the clash between Wigan Warriors Women and Wakefield Trinity Ladies at the Mobile Rocket Stadium on Sunday 30th June, 1pm kick-off.
Tickets are priced at £3 for Adults and £1 for Juniors.
