Wigan forward Ben Flower looks ahead to Betfred Super League clash with Salford Red Devils
The Warriors will look to bounce back from the Good Friday defeat at the AJ Bell Stadium on Easter Monday
- Flower: “We’ve got to get on with it and stick together.”
Wigan prop Ben Flower believes that injury-hit Wigan Warriors must stick together and grind out a win away to Salford Red Devils on Easter Monday (K.O. 3pm).
Speaking about the defeat to rivals St Helens on Good Friday, the Welshman said: “They were awesome. There’s not much more you can say about that really. We weren’t good enough. We need to be better.
Flower and the rest of his teammates’ attention must now quickly turn to Salford, who Wigan will face at the AJ Bell Stadium on Easter Monday.
The forward said: It’s a quick turn around, which isn’t ideal, but it’s what we have to do and all the teams are in the same boat.
“We’ve got to get on with it and stick together. These are the times where it’s tough and you’ve got to make sure we try and grind the win out.”
Wigan’s injury concerns grew further on Good Friday with winger Tom Davies suffering a dislocated and fractured ankle. However, Flower explained how the squad can’t dwell on the issue of injuries.
“It’s tough, especially when you’ve got a lot of boys out already. We desperately need some back.
“It is what it is but whatever team we field we’ve got to do our best with it.”
Salford will head into the game on a real high after beating Warrington Wolves at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Good Friday.
On facing the Red Devils, Flower stated: “They’ve got men who can play, so we have got to make sure that we go there and play our best, otherwise we are going to get beat.”
