Joe Burgess reflects on Wigan’s 42-0 win over Catalans Dragons.
Winger scored a hat-trick in Sunday’s emphatic victory at the DW Stadium.
- Burgess: “We stuck to it and went away with it in the end.”
Joe Burgess believes his side were back to their ‘best’ as Wigan Warriors comfortably beat Catalans Dragons on Sunday.
The winger scored a hat-trick as Wigan backed up last week’s win against Salford Red Devils with a 42-0 thrashing of Catalans at the DW Stadium in Round 8 of the Betfred Super League.
Speaking to Wigan TV after the game, Burgess said: “We really looked like a Wigan side. We are at our best when we get into the arm wrestle and coming out on top. We stuck to it and went away with it in the end.
“I’m not happy with my performance but I’m happy to get the hat-trick. There’re still a few rusty errors in there that I need to work on and clean up, but it’s always good to get a hat-trick.”
Burgess spoke about Wigan’s left edge attack, as he, Oliver Gildart and George Williams to five of the Warriors’ seven tries.
He admitted: “They’re close mates of mine. I’m always with them off the pitch as well and it’s good that we’re getting those combinations right. It’s showing in training and I’m glad we can do it the games too.”
