Wigan Warriors prop forward Tony Clubb is excited for the physical challenge of Warrington Wolves as the Cherry and Whites make the trip to the Halliwell Jones Stadium this Friday.

Clubb and his teammates head into Friday’s fixture with Warrington off the back of three defeats in the Betfred Super League. Despite this, the forward explained how they try to not dwell on past results.

“You’re lucky in this sport that week-in-week-out you get to go again after a bad result. We are excited for it [Friday], because we know we’ve been letting ourselves down over the last few weeks.

In contrast, Wigan travel to face a Warrington side who have won four of their first five Betfred Super League games. On heading to the Halliwell Jones Stadium Club said, “It’s a different week now and we are excited to go to Warrington. It’s a good crowd and a good ground to play at.

“Last week we knew where we went wrong and now we are looking to put everything right on Friday.”

On Friday the two sides will lock horns for the first time since last October’s Grand Final. With so much history between Wigan and Warrington over recent years, Clubb insisted that there was no shortage of admiration for the opposition.

“We’ve got massive respect for Warrington. They are a very, very good team who has been there, or there-abouts over the last few years and been involved in plenty of finals.

Having faced Warrington on so many occasions over the last few season, the Wigan prop-forward also explained that he knew what to expect from the Wolves on Friday night.

“We expect nothing less than going to their ground and them being very physical. That’s what we expect of them and what we expect from ourselves which is going to make it a good game come Friday.”
