Free touch rugby returns

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation are delighted to again be partnering with Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles to offer a 12-week free Touch Rugby program to help men lose weight and feel great

The response, results and feedback from those that took part on the last touch rugby program were outstanding. Not only did they lose those unwanted pounds, some great friendships were formed, and majority continue to meet up and play of a Monday evening together. The 12-week program offers free touch rugby sessions to men with a BMI of 25 or above.

Daz Marsh from the Warriors Foundation, who organised and runs the sessions said: “This is what the program is all about, yes we want to get adult males within the borough more active and reducing their BMI’s, but also to continue to stay active after the 12 weeks and that’s exactly what these lads have done.”

The program not only gets men active, each week a guest speaker gives a 30-minute presentation to the group. The last program had representatives from the likes of State of Mind and Behind A Smile talking about mental health, alongside nutritional presentations explaining the importance good nutrition and how both are important not only on a physical level but also on mental wellbeing.

Lee Bussell who took part in the last program said on his experience: “Touch rugby has dramatically improved my health… physically and mentally. Join a programme, stick to it, enjoy it!” The program helped Lee lose over 5% of his body weight and his team went on to win the touch rugby league.

There will again be an allocation of 80 places for this program. Sign up sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment, as the last program proved immensely popular!

The next 12-week Touch Rugby program starts Monday 4th March at Dean Trust, Orrell at 6.30pm, if you would like more info or want to sign up contact Daz Marsh on 07917-154-735 or email or contact IHL Hub via text. Just text ‘FIT’ and your name to 87800 or call 01942 496 496
