Wigan centre Oliver Gildart has been selected for the England national side following the withdrawal of South Sydney’s Sam Burgess
Gildart had been selected for the England Knights squad, who are set to face Papua New Guinea this Autumn in two fixtures held in Lae and Port Moresby in October and November.
The 22-year-old will join up with the team next week ahead of their first Autumn international against France in Leigh on Wednesday 17th October. The England squad then host New Zealand in three fixtures at the KCOM Stadium (27th Oct), Anfield (4th Nov) and Elland Road (11th Nov).
His place in the Knights squad has been filled by 25-year-old Salford full-back Naill Evalds.
Gildart, who was named as Super League’s Young Player of the Year 2017, has been in fine form again in 2018, scoring 13 tries in Super League for the Warriors.
