Over 1000 people visited Pennington Flash this Sunday to support and take part in this years Land of Beds’ Wigan and Leigh 5K Colour Run.
- The event helps to raise funds and awareness for Wigan Warriors Community Foundation and Wigan and Leigh Hospice.
Sunday saw over 1000 people descend down to Pennington Flash Country Park for this years Land of Beds’ Wigan and Leigh 5K Colour Run, a fundraising event started in 2014 by local charities Wigan Warriors Community Foundation and Wigan and high Hospice.
This years event was ran in loving memory of Neil Rigby, who sadly lost his life at the event in 2017.
Over a tonne of paint was thrown no the day, drenching people in colourful attires for the duration of the 5K course.
The event itself wouldn’t be possible if not of the generous support of both charities supporters including this years headline sponsors Land of Beds’ and colour station sponsors Stephenson’s Solicitors, Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles and the Sports Office.
Land of Beds’ Managing Director Mike Murray said:
“In addition to sponsoring this year’s run, we are hugely proud to have raised more than £1,100 for Wigan & Leigh Hospice thanks to the generosity of everyone who donated to Team Land of Beds.
‘More than 15 staff members took part - including our Pemberton Store Manager Lee Mayers, as well as my wife Caroline and our children George, 9, and Betsy, 5.
‘We are honoured to have partnered with Wigan Warriors Community Foundation, who delivered a well-attended event that has raised thousands of pounds for families who are going through the toughest of times.”
A special thank you must also go to Peter D Hill Wedding Singer and DJ who hosted the event, Prime Care Ambulance Service, Sealy Beds, Rock FM and Rivington View Nursery.
