Stand-off George Williams expects to face a strong Catalans team in the second round of the Super 8s this Saturday.

Discussing the team’s plans for the Dragons, he was clear in saying “We are preparing for the best of Catalans.”

“They will want the players who are playing in the final (Challenge Cup) physically fit and ready rather than a three week gap between a game and the final.”

After beating Castleford in the first round of the Super 8s 24-22, George emphasised that there was plenty to work on before travelling to France. It “was a promising first half, but we’ve done some video work on the disappointing second half.”

On playing away from home, “we are travelling alright and we just have to maintain that from.”

With the unavoidable news of Adrian Lam and Shaun Edwards breaking last week, George gave his thoughts on how it impacted the squad. “My first focus is to give a good send off to Waney, John Bateman and Sam Tomkins. They are the people who are moving on.”

He also said, “but it is exciting and it’s hard to ignore and it is great for the squad and for me hopefully. Hopefully it can only make me a better player.”

Speculation regarding George’s future had been circulating following an interview that was posted on the NRL website last week. Making it clear where he sees his immediate future, George said, “I’ll be here 100%.”

On the interview in question, the stand-off explained “I was misunderstood about when and where I want to go.”

“I said that it could be two years down the line and I think that’s what was missing a little bit.”
