- England Skipper O’Loughlin’s Three Lions Good Luck Message
Wigan Warriors’ and England captain Sean O’Loughlin has sent his best wishes to Gareth Southgate’s England team on the eve of their World Cup semi-final against Croatia
Wigan Warriors and England Rugby League captain Sean O’Loughlin has joined the chorus of well-wishers for the England football team ahead of their World Cup semi-final against Croatia this evening.
The Three Lions are preparing for their first World Cup semi-final since their heart-breaking loss to West Germany at Italia 90 when they face Croatia in Moscow at 7pm this evening. With the entire country gripped by World Cup fever, O’Loughlin, who captained his country in the 2017 Rugby League World Cup, lent his own support to fellow England skipper Harry Kane and the England Team.
“Competing on the world stage for your country in any sport is special,” said O’Loughlin. “It provides all of us, players, coaches and supporters, with the opportunity to unite behind a common cause. The World Cup in Russia has done exactly that for the England football team and it’s been amazing to see how Gareth Southgate and his group have brought so many people together and captured the imagination of the entire country.
“I’d like to wish Gareth Southgate, Harry Kane and the rest of the team the best of luck against Croatia on Wednesday night. I’m sure they’ll continue to do us proud once again.
He added: “It’s been 28 years since our last semi-final, and however many years of hurt since we last lifted a trophy - hopefully 2018 will be our year…It’s coming home!”
