Wigan Warriors are seeking a proactive, innovative and forward-thinking Content Marketing Manager to work within the Marketing and Media team. We need someone to come in as our number one and drive forward our digital content, brand and marketing strategies plus activations for ticketing, memberships, merchandise, Wigan TV, Wigan Warriors Education and the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation. The role will also incorporate aspects of media and communications such as social media and developing content for the official club website.

The Role: what you will be doing

  • You’ll plan and implement a number of marketing strategies and activations across the channel mix – ticketing, memberships, merchandise, website and Wigan TV.

  • Social media – our social media strategy is good. You’ll make them great.

  • Brand consistency – We live and die by our brand, you’ll ensure our internal and external comms reflect our brand values.

  • Our community foundation is award winning – you’ll be asked plan promotional events in the local community.

  • Wigan Warriors match days are the pinnacle of sporting entertainment, you’ll ensure we stay ahead of the game.

  • You will work with internal colleagues and experts, external influencers, journalists and PR industry experts to produce relevant, high quality content.

  • You will manage our content marketing initiatives to drive traffic, engagement and sales leads.

  • You know Wordpress and Google Analytics inside and out, and have a good working knowledge of other common marketing tools (mailchimp, google ads etc).

  • You’ve got experience managing freelance writers, designers and creatives.

  • You’ll need excellent strategic awareness. You will be adept at understanding competitors and the market and will be able to devise campaigns which provide us with the competitive edge.

  • You’ll manage the operation of the official club website, producing, editing and publishing content.

  • You will manage, prepare and oversee email campaigns to help support on-going projects and campaigns.

  • We love our partners, you’ll work with our commercial department to enhance our relationships.

  • You will work with design agencies and printers to deliver marketing collateral.

  • Intelligence guides our decision making, you’ll conduct market research as and when required.

  • We like our departments to meet targets, you’ll report back regularly.

Requirements

About You: The Non-Negotiables

  • Educated to degree level or 3+ years in Marketing.

  • You have experience within a sports media and marketing environment.

  • You understand brand, marketing, ticketing strategies and marketing channels.

  • You’ve got a strong understanding of CRM and fan engagement strategies.

  • You have worked on design and creative campaigns.

  • Passion to deliver content that will engage and strengthen our community.

  • You have a strong attention to detail.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Motivated and want to make a difference.

  • You’re able to frequently work outside normal working hours including bank holidays, early mornings, evenings and weekends.

  • You’re full of ideas.

About you: The Negotiables

  • Experience with in a media environment.

  • HTML & web publishing tech skills.

  • Commercial understanding and acumen.

  • Photography or videography experience is a plus not a must.

  • Proven success in social media marketing.
