Men’s Health week is running 11-17th of June and this year the focus is on diabetes.
Wigan Warriors want to encourage men to follow a healthy lifestyle, so this week we are offering a free session to promote awareness of men’s health issues, and to encourage men to get active. Keeping active and maintaining a healthy weight can help to prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes and can help to reverse the condition.
Wigan Warriors Community Foundation. Health and Wellbeing Manager Claire Taylor said:
“Men are more likely to get diabetes than women, more likely to experience complications like leg amputation and more likely to die from the condition. Typically men are less likely to visit the doctor over health concerns, which can lead to conditions going undiagnosed”.
Wigan Warriors Community Foundation will be delivering a session on Wednesday the 13th of June at 9:30-10:30am at Central Park, Montrose Avenue and is suitable for all levels of fitness. There will be a healthy brunch available at the pay as you feel Fur Clemt cafe after the session.
Following this we will be launching our men’s weight management service on Friday 15th June.
