Shaun Wane praised Widnes after his side just edged past the Vikings on Friday night.
SW on the game:
“Widnes threw a lot at us like they always do. They’re busted with injuries but they really put us under pressure. I thought they played really well tonight.
“The players know what works for us and they all understand and agree with how we need to play.
“We had a poor 40 minutes in the middle of the game and still found a way to win.”
SW on the team talk at half time:
“It was calm, (there were) just a few technical fixes and a bit in contact in our defence and how we could attack a bit smarter.
“I thought in the first ten minutes we controlled the game and got to the end of our sets and completed well.
“That was a lesson and we went away from doing what worked and got ourselves into a bit of trouble. In the second half we fixed it.”
SW on standout players for Wigan:
“I thought Ryan Sutton was very good for us. Joel Tomkins was a calming influence when he came on too, I told him to just get the message out to keep it simple and do the basic things right and we did that.
“Morgan (Escaré) is still rusty on a couple of things but overall I’m happy with his effort.”
SW on Joe Burgess who picked up a knee injury:
“I don’t know the details of it just yet.
“We’ve had three bad knee injuries here. With Jake (Shorrocks) and Nick (Gregson) before that. I’m absolutely gutted because I think his form has been fantastic.”
