The Vikings head into 2018 looking to improve on last year. They finished bottom of the league after the first part of the season in 2017.

Five wins from seven though saw them finish second in The Qualifiers and retain their Super League status.

The Chemics have started 2018 well and recorded a 23-6 win over Leeds on Sunday.

Former Wigan player Denis Betts is Head Coach having been at the helm since November 2010.

The Vikings have a host of familiar faces with Greg Burke one of four former Wigan players in their squad.

Captain and stand off, Joe Mellor, is also a former Warrior and will be vital for his side this week.

New Zealand international, Krisnan Inu, joined the Vikings ahead of the 2018 season and is the Club’s leading try-scorer so far with five.

PNG international, Wellington Albert (left) and brother Stanton also joined the Vikings during the close-season.

Last season Wigan won both games against Widnes with Tony Clubb on the scoresheet in the 28-12 win at the DW Stadium in June.
