During the next few months, we’re going to be digging out some of the best games between Wigan and Hull FC as we build up towards our historic clash in Wollongong, New South Wales on 10 February 2018.

First up is the Super League clash from 2005 and a match that meant so much for Wigan at the KC Stadium

Wigan needed to get a result to catapult themselves into the top 6 ahead of the play-offs and with Hull FC potentially having one eye on the Challenge Cup Final the following week against Leeds, this was the perfect opportunity to do so.

Danny Orr returned to the stand-off position for Wigan while David Vaealiki came back into the side while Hull chose to rest Richard Horne, Kirk Yeaman and Paul Cooke.

Some notable names in both teams, the late Terry Newton for Wigan and the current Kiwi head coach Stephen Kearney for Hull FC.

The two sides will make history in February 2018 when they contest the first Super League match outside of Europe at Wollongong’s WIN Stadium, home to the St George Illawara Dragons before heading up to Sydney for the double-header clash with South Sydney Rabbitohs
