Piggy and Paddy give Wollongong the thumbs up
Wigan Warriors to tour New South Wales in 2018
- Wigan to face Hull FC in Super League game at Win Stadium, Wollongong before International Double Header at ANZ Stadium, Sydney
Former Wigan favourites Pat Richards and Mark Riddell have thrown their weight behind the Warriors 2018 Tour to New South Wales with both saying Wollongong is the perfect place to host a Super League game.
The Warriors will create history in February 2018 when they host Hull FC in a Super League game in Wollongong, New South Wales.
The Super League pair will then square off against South Sydney Rabbitohs and St George Illawarra Dragons at ANZ Stadium.
Both Riddell and Richards recently spoke with Kris Radlinski.
“It’s a beautiful spot, a lot more relaxed than Sydney.” Said Riddell.
“There’s nowhere near as much traffic and there’s some beautiful beaches. It’s got a really relaxed country town feel but it’s right by the beach. It’s got beautiful weather and restaurants and it’s a great place to hold a game.
“The ground itself, Win Stadium, is right on the beach so it’s a beautiful outlook and great surface and I’m sure all of the Wigan fans will really enjoy The Gong, it’s a great spot!“
Adding to that, Richards said: “There’s lots of little towns and bays along there and you can go for a drive down the Kiama and those sorts of things. I take the kids down there to have an ice cream and to see the blow hole. There’s all sorts of things to do down there, I think it’s a great move to get the game down there.
“I’m sure Wigan and Hull will bring an atmosphere down there that Australia hasn’t seen before.”
