Under-16s: Warrington 16 Wigan 34
Four tries from Marcus Cropper helped Wigan Warriors Under-16s record a fine victory over local rivals Warrington Wolves Under-16s 34-16 at Victoria Park on Wednesday night.
16 of the 18 Wigan players involved were from the Under-15s age group but it made little difference as the Warriors ran out easy winners in an impressive performance.
The Cherry and Whites were 12-0 ahead at the half-time interval thanks to efforts from full-back Cian Tyrer and a double from winger Cropper.
Tyrer, Aaron Pimblett and Reece Storey extended Wigan’s lead shortly after the restart to make the score 20-0 to the Warriors.
Warrington hit back with three quickfire tries midway through the second-half though through Liam Brinksman, Lloyd Wright and Dan Harper.
However, Cropper scored another two late on to calm any nerves in the Warriors camp as Shane Eccles’ side were 34-16 victors.
