  • Warrington game the biggest so far this year according to Lee Mossop

  • Warriors host Wolves at the DW on Friday evening in top of the table clash

  • “It’s a huge game, the biggest game of the year so far when you look at the league table.” Mossop

Warriors prop Lee Mossop says Friday’s game against Warrington is the biggest so far this season.

Wigan sit second in the First Utility Super League table and host Warrington, who currently occupy top spot, at the DW on Friday evening – 8pm kick-off.

Only points difference separates the teams at the moment with the winner of the game set to be the clear league leaders.

Mossop is under no illusion as to how big the game is: “It’s a huge game, the biggest game of the year so far when you look at the league table.” He said.

“Any game against Warrington is always a big one though, they’re a very good team and it’s a local derby that is never short of drama.

“They’ve started the season really well and their new signings have added to what was already a good team. They lost for the first time this season on Monday to Hull FC and will be hurting after that so we’re expecting them to look to bounce back against us.”

The game will be the third inside a week for both teams and Mossop still expects a great game.

“We won’t train much this week,” he said. “It’s all about recovery at this time of year and making sure that we are all ready to go for the game.

“Make no mistake though, both teams will be giving their all on Friday because we know that a win against a team that is near you in the league is huge.

“To get top spot would be nice but we aren’t really focused on that, we just want to beat a good Warrington team.

“They’ll bring a huge following over with them determined to get the win and we just need to concentrate in defence. We showed against St Helens how good our defence can be when we are on and we’ll need that same attitude and desire again this Friday.”

Wigan Warriors host Warrington Wolves on Friday evening in a crunch Super League clash at the DW Stadium, tickets for this game are on sale from the DW Stadium Ticket Office, the Ticket Hotline – 0871 6633 552 and online HERE.
