Wigan confirmed their squad numbers for 2013 in a 25 man list earlier this week with fans already looking at who is likely to replace who in the Warriors line-up.
With the likes of Carmont, Finch, Leuluai and Lima gone, and new faces in Green and Taylor and a new half pack partnership with Green and Smith, supporters are busy trying to second guess in a number of positions, in particular the left centre. Although Jack Hughes has been given the number 4 shirt having covered in the centre last season when George Carmont was out injured, Head Coach Shaun Wane is keen to stress that nothing is decided and there is competition around the squad for places,
"I need to give squad numbers but don't read too much into them. Iain Thornley will get a chance pre-season as will Jack who had a good season last year and so will anybody else who deserves it. I will also take a look at Anthony Gelling in the Back Row, I don't like to pigeon-hole players and it's up to the best players that show in pre-season will be given places in the side for the start of the season, it's all up to them.
"I want players to be fighting for each position. In the second row we have Liam, Gaz and H as well as Rhodri Lloyd after two spots. We also have plenty of other young talent coming through the ranks again and some of those will also be given a chance during the season.
"We will have the same mentality next season to go out and try and win all our games. I am expecting Matty and Blake to jump straight in at Half back with Sam Powell in the wings. I am expecting good things from them."
