Maguire On Hull Test

Maguire On Hull Test

After success in the Carnegie Challenge Cup last weekend, Wigan Warriors return to Engage Super League action this Friday against Hull FC at the KC Stadium, 8pm kick off.

The Warriors head across to the KC Stadium unbeaten in their last eight games in League and Cup, Wigan are at the top of the table with just five regular Super League round left, Hull FC are down in 8th but have both Hull KR, Bradford and Salford breathing down their necks looking to sneak in to a Play-Off spot. The Airlie Birds were last Sunday knocked out of the Cup at home to Leeds Rhinos going down 22-38.

In the meeting at the DW Stadium back in March, Wigan were narrow 14-12 winners over Richard Agar's side.

Looking back firstly on the win over Warrington Wolves in the Cup last time out Michael Maguire told us,

"It was really pleasing to see our players go out and show what they are capable of doing, we are growing in confidence and playing to our capabilities and the players are enjoying it at the moment.

"The Semi-Final draw is a tough one, we have to just play whoever is in front of us and that is another big game for us. We will focus on that next week but before that we have a big game this Friday at Hull, we are at the top of the table and it is up to us to do what we can to stay there."

On injuries following the Warrington game Michael added,

"There is only really Paul Prescott with his hamstring but fingers crossed he should be OK pretty soon."

On Hull FC, he said,

"They will be extremely hungary looking to perform following last week, we pride ourselves on turning up week in and week out and we will need to that again. In the meeting here earlier in the season, the game went to the death and it will be another tough one. Hull have a big forward pack, crafty halves and plenty of speed out on the edges so we need to make sure we are on our game."

Hull have named an unchanged 19 for the clash with the influential Craig Fitzgibbon still ruled out with a calf injury.
