Darrell Supports Former School

Warriors winger Darrell Goulding has made a return to his former School this week to back St Edmund Arrowsmith whose Year 11 rugby team have made it through to the final of the English Schools Rugby League competition, to be played at the Grattan Stadium, Odsal, Bradford on Wednesday 1st June 2011

The school won their first ESRL title in 1995 (Year 11 beat Winifred Holtby, Hull), and were victorious again in 2000 (Year 9 beat Whitehaven Grammar School). The last appearance in a national final was in 2002, when the Year 11 team were narrowly beaten by St Augustine's, our near neighbours from St Helens.

Many of the schools former pupils have gone on to play professional Rugby League, including Wigan's Darrell Goulding. Others include John Duffy (Leigh), Andy Ballard (Barrow), Karl Fitzpatrick (Salford), Shaun Briscoe (Hull KR) and Jamie Foster (St Helens).

Darrell is pictured with John Duffy and Joe Collins (Year 11 Captain) as they are presented with their shirts for the Final. Good luck from everyone at Wigan Warriors.
