Wigan Warriors can today reveal that seven young players from the Club have been named in the England Under 18's Academy squad for the forthcoming Test Match against France in Villeneuve on June 9th.
The Warriors players make up just less than a third of the whole squad of 23 and include Jack Murphy, Ryan King, Sam Powell, Danny Bridge, Greg Burke, Matthew Russell and Iain Thornley. The seven have figured regularly and impressed in the Wigan Valvoline Academy and Cup sides.
These selections further enhance Wigan's reputation for being able to provide International players from all levels of the Club's playing sides.
Player/Coach Development Manager Ray Unsworth said,
"We are delighted these young lads have been selected for the England Under 18's squad, they have all been working very hard and fully deserve their call up. This is a testament to the Chairman's vision of developing young talented players at the Club as well as all the hard work the coaching and backroom staff have put in. We wish them all well and hope they all enjoy their time with the England squad."
