Noble Looks Back On The Win At The Willows

Wigan Warriors recorded a 24-50 win against the Salford City Reds on Friday night. The cherry and whites ran in nine tries ,which included a hat-trick for Trent Barrett.

The first half was a see-saw battle but Wigan ran away with it after the interval. Speaking after the game, Head Coach Brian Noble said,

"It was weird with the start, (Wigan scored after 20 seconds through Phil Bailey after the ball rebounded back off the posts), we practice those kick offs and it came off tonight. Everytime we were at their end we seemed to score, it was touch and pass. It's quite frustrating to see what happened but in the second half we talked about being more patient and dominant and we defended better as well.

"I think this is the first time we have scored 50 points which is pleasing. It shows we have some quality with the ball and we have some strike. I did think we were a bit soft around the middle defensively."

Wigan lost the services of Chris Ashton with an ankle injury, Barrett was also taken off with some ice on his calf, asked about that Noble added,

"Chris has gone to hospital but we are hopeful he is OK, it was a precaution, kicks on the ankle can be painful and we will keep our fingers crossed. Trent is OK too, we took him off the field as a precaution, he's fine."
