Basil's Back

Warriors Coach Ian 'Basil' Millward returned back to the club yesterday to begin preparations for engage Super League XI.

With most of the players due to begin pre-season training next Monday, Ian was back with his newly assembled back room team forming plans for his early training sessions to put the players through their paces.

On his return, Millward exclusively spoke to

"It is great to be back and I am really looking forward to working with the players in the lead up to next season.

"I have had a month away, and while in Australia I have spoken to all the new signings. I also had a meal with Bryan Fletcher and Scott Logan. All the guys can't wait to get over here, and the enthusiasm they are all showing is a great credit to them.

"While I was away I also spent a bit of time with the Aussie Rules outfit Sydney Swans. I really admired their setup, especially the medical and physical training side of things. I learned a huge amount which hopefully we can adopt in some way at Wigan.

"We are now finalising our pre-season plans which will hopefully include a training camp and a couple of pre-season fixtures, and over the next month I will also have to consider who will captain the side.

"2006 will be an exciting year for the club, and I urge all our supporters to buy their season tickets early and continue their loyal and faithful support."

2006 season tickets are now available from the JJB Stadium Ticket Office, Ticket Hotline on 0870 11-22-552 and renewals can be made online [by clicking here].
