Behind The Sticks - Challenge Cup R4

Welcome back down to Earth Wigan fans, can the Warriors get any better than their Easter performances?: -

Wigan Warriors v Whitehaven

After their Easter heroics Wigan Warriors return to the JJB in this weeks Challenge Cup match against National League 1 side Whitehaven Warriors.

Whilst the Warriors will welcome a break from Super League action they shouldn’t take the ‘other’ Warriors side lightly. Whitehaven have some top players in David Seeds, Mick Nanyn and of course the evergreen Gary Broadbent. Haven also have a massive pack and they will take the game to the Wigan youngsters.

I don’t know what team Denis Betts will want to field or can field but I expect him to call on the experienced Terry Newton to lead the Wigan team to victory. Newton has been colossal this season and I expect him to score the first try in this game. Whitehaven will be competitive at first but won’t be able to match Wigan’s pace or power in the end and I fully expect the Warriors to run out easy winners in the end!

Winning Margin – Wigan to beat Whitehaven by 36-40 points

1st Try Scorer – Terry Newton
