Behind The Sticks - Week 3

After a narrow defeat last week against the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats the Warriors return home to defend their proud home record. Please read on to see if you agree with my match predictions: -

Wigan Warriors v Bradford Bulls

These two giants go head to head in Round 3 and is there anyone anywhere who would of predicted that both clubs would only have 2 points between them at this stage of the season?

For both teams this is a must win game especially for the Bradford Bulls, who have registered their worst ever start in Super League history in recent weeks. The Warriors though will be in no mood to feel sorry for the Bulls especially after their narrow defeat away from home last week against Wakefield.

Wigan have a tremendously proud home record that nearly stretches for 2 years without defeat. The Warriors players will be determined to defend such a proud and cherished record.

Wigan welcome back prop Danny Sculthorpe and give a debut to new signing Jerome Guisset. Guisset will drive the hard yards down the middle of the field whilst Sculthorpe will add a bit of creativity from the middle of the field. One player sure to benefit from Danny’s return is scrum half Dennis Moran. Moran didn’t have the best of games last week at the Atlantic Solutions Stadium and will be looking to make amends this weekend. If Dennis Moran follows Sculthorpe around the field I’m sure he will benefit like he did a couple of weeks ago against Salford. I take Dennis Moran to register the 1st try in this epic encounter.

The Bulls meanwhile welcome back a couple of powerhouses themselves in the shape of Michael Withers and Lesley Vainikolo. These two bring real class to the Bulls back line and have been badly missed. Either player can register tries from anywhere on the field and need to be closely watched for the entire eighty minutes.

This game will be played in front of a huge crowd and I think each and every paying spectator will be treated to a ‘special’ game. I just think that home advantage will just swing it Wigan’s way although a drawn game wouldn’t surprise me.

Hold on to your seats, fasten your seat belts its going to be a cracker!

Winning Margin Wigan to beat Bradford by 1-5 points

1st Try Scorer Dennis Moran
