Clubb Man 2017 - 13

Wow, what a week! A huge thanks to the fans who have been and supported us, as always, over the season. A few weeks ago some people were writing our season off and losing belief, but things look a lot more positive now.

We faced Leeds the other week, and we were happy with that performance. We know that Leeds had a lot of regulars missing in that game, but our main aim was to go out there and play well. We felt like we did that and not only did we get the win but we also came away with a clean slate. It was an important game for us to win, to nil against a side like Leeds was something we were particularly pleased with.

Then we went to the Halliwell Jones for the Challenge Cup Semi-Final last weekend, I don’t think I need to hide my happiness at that result. The team is coming back up to full strength and gaining momentum, which couldn’t have come at a better time for us. We knew that Salford would be up for it, they’ve had a long wait for a shot at a Challenge Cup final, but we want to add to our silverware this season too, so we were prepared to give it everything.

If I’m honest, it wasn’t a performance which we were completely happy with. We started really well, but towards the end of the first half we were a bit sloppy after having a few tries disallowed and a man sent to the sin bin. We went in to the sheds behind, and we knew we had a huge job to do in the second forty.

Luckily, we had the energy and passion to get us through to the end, getting Micky and Gilly over the line. Obviously, we’re delighted to be in the final and it’s something that we’re all looking forward to, but there’s a huge amount of work to do before then with the Super 8s starting.

It’s back to the hard work now before we go to Headingley, we’re expecting a bit of a different Leeds side this week to the one we faced back at the DW, but the key focus will be the same. We’re in a good bit of form now and feeling confident off the back of those wins, so we want to keep that going now through the 8s, hopefully starting at Leeds on Friday.

Hope to see you there!
