Warriors add new Offload sessions in February and March
Wigan Warriors community foundation can confirm new dates in february and march for our offload programme which has tackled male loneliness and isolation in the borough.
Working alongside the Government and Rugby League Cares as part of the Plan For Change, Wigan Warriors have welcomed more than 30 males to rugby sessions at Robin Park Arena and venues around the borough since November.
Designed to offer men aged 16 to 24 with a sense of community, purpose and wellbeing by tackling isolation and loneliness, our Offload programme provides a safe environment for individuals to open up without pressure or judgement.
When attending an Offload session, participants will work through team-building challenges to enhance their physical and mental fitness skills, while developing personal tools that will lead to a positive contribution in our community.
After a successful start to the programme, our next set of sessions will be held at Robin Park Arena each Thursday starting on 5 February before finishing on 12 March (5:30-7:30pm).
Speaking on the programme, Wigan Warriors Community Foundation Mental Health & Wellbeing Officer, Rhiannon Palma-Cass said: “It’s been inspiring seeing first-hand the positivity that Offload sessions have provided to males across the borough.
“We’re proud to have supported many young men already through the programme, and we encourage new individuals to join our next block of sessions so we can continue tackling male loneliness and isolation.”
