Warriors thank Wigan & Leigh Hospice

Wigan Warriors would like to thank Wigan & Leigh Hospice as their 2025 Charity Partnership comes to a close and are pleased to announce that over £18,000 has been raised.

Featuring the Wigan & Leigh Hospice logo, the Warriors Charity Third Shirt proved incredibly popular, a Purple shirt with fine detailing including ‘Debbie’ printed on the side of each shirt, paying tribute to Liam Marshall’s mum who sadly passed away at the hospice in February 2024. £5 from the sale of each shirt went towards the final Charity total of the Partnership.

Throughout the season the Warriors have held the Wigan & Leigh Hospice half-time game, a stall in the Fan Village raising money, Sponsored events by Chairman Professor Chris Brookes, Partnerships Executive Katie Cumberbirch and other Warriors staff, the Hospice Takeover game against Leigh Leopards and support from Captain Liam Farrell and Liam Marshall at the Hospice’s Annual Glitterball – all raising money towards the Charity Partnership.

On behalf of Wigan Warriors Commercial Team, Partnerships Executive Katie Cumberbirch said: “We would like to say how lovely it has been working with Wigan & Leigh Hospice throughout 2025. Everyone’s hard work at the hospice is evident in everything they do.

“Everyone’s commitment and the quality of work delivered has been remarkable. It has been a privilege to support the hospice throughout the year with events and fundraising of which we’ve truly felt honoured to be part of it.”

Wigan Warriors Official Club Store are delighted to share that approximately 2,795 shirts and dog shirts were sold in 2025, our highest number yet on a Charity shirt.

Jo Carby, Chief Executive of Wigan & Leigh Hospice, said: “This has been such a fantastic partnership for the hospice, and we are so grateful for all of the support we have received from the Warriors players, staff, team and fans this year. Rugby is such an important part of this community and I know it has meant a lot to our staff, patients, supporters and volunteers to know our local team is supporting us.

“The £18,000 raised through the partnership will make such a difference, and seeing so many people wearing the charity shirts at our events this year has been really heart-warming. Once again, this proves why this community is so special and how much we can achieve when we work together.”

Wigan Warriors CEO, Kris Radlinski, said: “Working with Wigan & Leigh Hospice this year has been an absolute privilege. Seeing the work firsthand has highlighted just how fortunate our borough is to have such a dedicated and compassionate team.

“Although our year-long partnership is coming to an end, we hope to stay connected with the Hospice and feel confident reaching out whenever we can support.

“Thank you for being the true heroes of our Community. We hold you and your work in the highest regard.”
