Matt Peet has previewed Saturday’s Betfred Super League Grand Final against Hull KR at old trafford.

On reaching the Grand Final, Peet said: “In some ways it comes around quick, but in other ways it’s after a long and challenging season. This is why we do it, it’s why the players commit themselves so hard, it’s what the supporters look forward to all year, and I’m just glad, relieved and proud we get the chance to do it again.”

Reflecting on the season, Peet added: “Every season brings its own challenges, but I can see where we are and where we have improved. Some of those tougher times and challenges make you better in the long-term, and hopefully that’s where we are at the moment.”

On the excitement, Peet said: “The lads are buzzing and full of enthusiasm. They’ve worked so hard all season for this, and now the opportunity is here. They’re in the position now where training and the hard work is done, there’s just one more 80 minute performance to go. They’ve got a spring in their step which is important.”

On previous experience, Peet said: “We’ve been through this before and hopefully we’ve learned – not just from last year’s Grand Final but the other big games we have won and lost. Whatever this game throws up will be new learnings, we’ve experienced it before. Hopefully that will stand us in good stead.”

Speaking on Hull KR, Peet said: “They’re a quality and experienced outfit with an excellent coach. They’ll have been stinging from last year but they’ve since had some success. I expect a very close game which will go right until the end.”

On the Grand Final atmosphere, Peet said: “It’s magic – the walk out in particular is very special. It’s important to focus on the job at hand, but you have a minute to take it all in. It will be a proud feeling leading this group of men out, with my captain behind me, in front of our supporters and so many people that care so much. I cannot thank our supporters enough and we’ll be giving everything for them on Saturday.”
