Women crowned 2025 Nines Champions

Wigan Warriors Women went unbeaten in the 2025 Nines tournament, winning the trophy for a second year running whilst not conceding a single point.
Wigan went through to the Semi-Finals of the competition with solid wins over Hull KR and Barrow Raiders in the group stages, winning both games to nil.
In the Quarter-Final against St.Helens, Wigan were dominant as they ran in seven unanswered tries in the 13 minute game to progress to the Semi-Finals where they faced Championship side Swinton Lionesses. Wigan continued their fine form in the Semi-Finals, coming away with a 25-0 win to reach the Final where they faced Huddersfield Giants.
The Warriors battled well against the Giants in the final, scoring three unconverted tries to lift the trophy for a second consecutive year!
Game One: Wigan Warriors 48-0 Hull KR.
Wigan opened their group game against Hull KR with a five-point try from Isabel Rowe who raced free before Molly Jones added a four-point try to make it 9-0. Ellise Derbyshire then raced in under the sticks for a five-point try which was converted by Wilson before Wilson then went in herself for a four-point try to make it 20-0 at the break.
Ellise Derbyshire added a converted five-point try before Academy product Emily Coop then grabbed a five-pointer – both converted by Wilson to make it 34-0. Derbyshire then went the distance for her hat-trick five-point try which was converted before Emily Coop added a second under the posts, Wilson was on target to confirm the 48-0 win for Wigan in their opened.

Game Two: Wigan Warriors 26-0 Barrow Raiders.
Wigan again made light work of their second group game, opening the scoring with a five-point try from Jenna Foubister before Molly Jones raced down the left edge before cutting in for a two-point try. Eva Hunter then supported to go over for another five-point try, converted by Wilson for 16-0 at the break.
Wigan added two further scored from Rachel Thompson and Grace Banks to see off Barrow 26-0 and progress to the Quarter-Finals where they faced St.Helens.

Quarter-Final: Wigan Warriors 33-0 St.Helens.
Wigan faced local rivals St.Helens in their Quarter-Final tie but it was one-way traffic for the Warriors. Two quick four-point tries from Molly Jones and Anna Davies got Wigan out to 8-0 before Remi Wilton crashed over for a five-point try under the sticks converted by Georgia Wilson for 15-0.
Anna Davies got her second of the day out wide before Wilton got her second, both unconverted for 23-0. Anna Davies then completed her hat-trick on the right side which Georgia Wilson converted, before Wilson finished off the try-scoring for a 33-0 victory, sending Wigan into a Semi-Final tie against Swinton Lionesses.

Semi-Finals: Wigan Warriors 25-0 Swinton Lionesses.
Wigan were dominant in the Semi-Final against Swinton, scoring three quick-fire converted five-point bonus tries from Anna Davies and Eva Hunter to rack up a 21-0 advantage. Grace Banks then scored a four-point try to make it 25-0.
With an injury stoppage late on, the referee called time to confirm Wigan’s spot in the Final to face Huddersfield Giants who beat Leeds Rhinos in Golden Point Extra Time in the other Semi-Final.

Wigan were made to battle hard in the final, but got their reward 3 minutes in as Molly Jones went in at the left corner. Jones added her second of the game a few minutes later in similar fashion as she managed to round the defence on the left side.
Jenna Foubister rounded off the action as she sold a dummy to race clear and go over for Wigan’s third try of the game, with Wilson unable to convert. The final whistle blew as Wigan were crowned Nines Champions for a second year running whilst going unbeaten and without conceding a try on the day.
