Warriors to celebrate Past Women’s players at upcoming Leigh Leopards game

Wigan Warriors Women are pleased to announce that its upcoming fixture against Leigh Leopards at Robin Park Arena on Sunday 22 June will be the ‘Pride in OUR Past’ fixture.

The Round 5 Fixture will celebrate the fantastic Women who have helped shape the game of Rugby League in the Wigan & Leigh Borough.

Ex-players from both Wigan Warriors and Leigh Leopards will be invited to attend, reconnect and help celebrate Women who have contributed to the game of Rugby League throughout the borough.

The Warriors will work closely with Julia Lee – a pioneer in Women’s Rugby League and the first Woman to referee a Men’s Rugby League fixture back in the 1980s, to co-ordinate what promises to be a great celebration of Women’s Sport.

Wigan Warriors Women recently lifted the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup trophy at Wembley Stadium for the first time and sit Top of the Betfred Women’s Super League, two points ahead of the Leopards going into Round 4, with a mouth-watering Battle of the Borough Women’s clash awaiting next weekend.

Fans will also have the opportunity to have their picture with the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup trophy on the day before the action gets underway whilst Wigan & Leigh Hospice will also be in attendance with some stalls and donation stations.

Tickets for the fixture at Robin Park Arena are on sale now HERE for £5 Adults, £3 Concessions and Seasonal Members can gain FREE entry.
