Warriors and Latics open Edge Hall Road Community Stadium

Wigan Warriors and Wigan Athletic enjoyed the official opening of the redeveloped Edge Hall Road Community Stadium.

Plenty of smiles were seen throughout a special opening event as players from Wigan Warriors Women and Wigan Athletic Women attended alongside key stakeholders, invited dignitaries from the relevant governing bodies, Wigan Council and the NHS. 

Supporters and members of the public were also present at the opening of the town’s new hub for Women’s physical activity, health and wellbeing for the wider community. 

As part of an action-packed day of activities, girls engaged in rugby league and football coaching sessions delivered by Wigan Warriors and Wigan Athletic before taking a tour of the enhanced Edge Hall Road Community Stadium facilities, which includes state-of-the-art gym, changing and medical zones.

The redevelopment of the Edge Hall Road training facility will be essential in increasing the professionalism and development of women’s rugby league and football, whilst attracting a regular fan base and creating wider revenue opportunities through sponsorship and other commercial revenue streams.
