Peet on Challenge Cup defeat

Matt Peet has given his reflection on this evening’s loss against Hull FC in the fourth round of the Betfred Challenge Cup.

Speaking at full time, Matt Peet said: “Obviously we’re very disappointed, everyone’s hurt. We’re hurt for the fans, the Cup means a lot to us and to not be in it at any time, it’s disappointing. It’s going to hurt for a while this one but the best team won.”

He added: “I think just credit to Hull, every team has things that happen in a game where you might have to swap around and I just thought Hull were by far the better team on the night.”

Reflecting on the game, which saw Wigan lead 22-6 going in at the break, the Head Coach said: “I just felt at times when we were in front, we started to get a bit loose with the ball and when points started to come, we weren’t disciplined enough to to regain control of the game and and Hull were outstanding.”

Updating on injuries sustained in the tie, Matt Peet said: “Jai [Field] will need a scan on his hamstring, it’s impossible to tell on that at this stage. Kaide [Ellis] is sore in there, he passed his HIA but his neck is sore so we’ll see how he is on that and Adam [Keighran], I’m not sure, he got through the game after a bang on the knee but he’ll also need a scan.”

Next up for the Warriors it’s a return to Betfred Super League action on the road against Leeds Rhinos at Headingley Stadium next Saturday 22 March (5.30pm K.O.) Tickets and travel for the tie remain available online HERE or by calling The Brick Community Stadium Ticket Office on 01942 311 111.
