Challenge Cup excitement builds

Matt Peet and Liam Farrell have expressed their excitement ahead of Saturday’s Betfred Challenge Cup Round 4 tie against Hull FC.

The Warriors take on the Black & Whites at The Brick Community Stadium on Saturday evening (5:45pm K.O.) where Peet’s side will be aiming to take a step closer to back-to-back Wembley appearances following last year’s success under the famous arch.

Having beaten Sheffield Eagles, Castleford Tigers and Hull KR to reach the final, tries from Zach Eckersley, Bevan French and Farrell saw the Warriors overcome Warrington Wolves to lift a 21st Betfred Challenge Cup title.

After kicking off this year’s competition with a victory at Sheffield Eagles last month, the Warriors face Super League opponents Hull FC on home soil for a place in the Quarter-Finals.

Sharing his excitement ahead of the tie, Farrell said: “The Challenge Cup holds a special place in our hearts with recent memories. It will be special if we can get as far in the competition this time around, and that’s something we are looking forward to.”

After praising the importance of the Warriors supporters following his side’s Betfred Super League victory over Huddersfield Giants at The Brick Community Stadium, Peet is hoping for an atmosphere that matches the competition’s importance.

The Warriors head coach said: “The crowd was unbelievable and we needed them as there were times we were set for set and their lift was notable. Sometimes the team lifts the crowd up, but this was one where the crowd brought energy. Hopefully we can build on that atmosphere against Hull FC in a competition that’s very important to us a Club.”
