Matt Peet has revealed that wigan warriors are excited to be representing british sport in las vegas this saturday, in association with greenmount projects.
The Warriors will create history this weekend when facing Warrington Wolves at the Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, in the first Betfred Super League fixture to be played in the United States.
Having arrived in Las Vegas on Monday evening, the Warriors underwent an intense first training session at the UFC Performance Institute on Tuesday.
Speaking on the historic fixture, Peet said: “Having finished our first two matches, it’s great that we can completely focus on Las Vegas and give it the full attention it deserves. I felt quite awkward talking about Vegas in the weeks leading into the season, but now we can all talk with openness and excitement.”
Explaining the importance of preparation, Peet said: “A lot of my mind is on managing the week. There has, and will continue, to be a lot of things different here in Vegas so I need to get it right. My job is to manage the group to be as professional and prepared as they can be. Of course we all want to enjoy the experience, but there’s certain things we must get right.”
On representing British sport, Peet said: “It’s going to be a fantastic event and we have a big responsibility to sport in our country to do this in the right way. This week is going to be a challenge, but what a privilege and opportunity it is to have. Although we are going to play against Warrington, we are going in partnership to showcase what British Super League is capable of.”
Praising the atmosphere in Las Vegas, Peet said: “I was expecting it to be exciting, but I’ve been blown away by how fans from all around the world have engaged. Having seen our players faces, the energy and our badge all across vegas is amazing. I was expecting it to be great, but my expectations have been surpassed.”
On the opportunity, Peet added: “The players from both sides deserve this and that’s credit to the Club’s who have managed to provide this platform. Anyone who is in Las Vegas this weekend will know this event is taking place – it certainly hasn’t gone under the radar.”
