Buccaneers bring American Football to Las Vegas camp

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation and lancashire buccaneers provided chilren on our las vegas camp with an introduction to american football.
With less than two weeks to go until Wigan Warriors take on Warrington Wolves at the Allegiant Stadium, more than 150 children were present on the first day of our Community Foundation Las Vegas half-term camp.
Older players participated in an American Football fundamentals session delivered by Lancashire Buccaneers – the biggest American Football Club in Lancashire. Coaches and players from The Bucks led drills that covered running, passing, receiving and tackling.
Offering contact (full-kitted) and non-contact (flag football) versions of American Football to anyone over the age of seven, Lancashire Buccaneers are proud to have eight teams including: U11’s, U14’s, U16’s, U19’s, adult contact, adult flag and ladies flag.
Director of Development and Lancashire Buccaneers Head Coach, Ian Nicholson said: “The first thing I saw when I arrived was a Wigan Warriors American Football helmet and, being a massive fan, I immediately wanted one. It’s great to see the Club providing different sporting opportunities to children, and being able to merge my two passions together has been a dream. It would be amazing to see some of the children come down to give American Football a go.”
Wigan Warriors Assistant Head of Community, Scott Rafferty added: “What a great way to kick-start our Vegas Week camp having the team down from Lancashire Bucks to deliver American Football drills. Our coaches have done a fantastic job in creating a positive environment for the children to come down and have a great time, and we cannot wait to continue delivering American themed activities throughout the week.”
It’s not too late to join our Las Vegas half-term camp on Wednesday and Thursday. Join the fun by booking your place HERE.
