Leeming shares Las Vegas and pre-season excitement

Kruise Leeming has shared his excitement for March’s historic las vegas fixture upon his return to Robin Park Arena for pre-season.

In 85 days Wigan Warriors take on Warrington Wolves at the Allegiant Stadium in a historic Betfred Super League clash.

The Warriors hooker, alongside Warrington Wolves winger Matty Ashton, travelled to Las Vegas last month to promote the event which takes place on Saturday 1 March.

Whilst experiencing Vegas for the first time, Leeming and Ashton enjoyed the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, faced off in the octagon alongside the UFC bantamweight world champion Merab Dvalishvili and Hall of Famer Forrest Griffin, before watching Las Vegas Raiders against Denver Broncos at the Allegiant Stadium.

Speaking on the experience, Leeming said: โ€œIt was great. It was a once in a lifetime trip and I feel grateful for the opportunity.โ€

The Warriors face the Wolves in the first of four games in a festival of rugby league, alongside two NRL matches and an international between Australia Jillaroos and England Women.

Sharing his excitement, Leeming said: โ€œWe’d be lying as a team if we said we didn’t have one eye on the Vegas game – we are all very excited. It’s going to be a great spectacle, not just for Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves and Super League, but the sport in general. To put our product in the shop window for more people to see is huge.โ€

The highly anticipated clash takes place in the 65,000 capacity Allegiant Stadium, and on visiting the home of Las Vegas Raiders, Leeming said: โ€œTo envision what it would be like to play there was special and a surreal experience.

โ€œI was able to watch through a lens knowing I’ll be playing there. I was looking at how wide the pitch was, where the tunnel was, the big screens โ€“ all of it. The whole trip added to the excitement, and I cannot wait to go back with the whole team and play there.โ€

Leeming returned to Robin Park Arena on Monday to start pre-season training, and reflecting on his first week back, he said: โ€œI’ve been itching to come back so it’s great to be back in with the group.”

Leeming added: โ€œPre-season is a good time for a player because you get the chance to push your body to the limit without the pressure of a game at the weekend. There’s a lot of camaraderie [in the group] as everyone shares common goals whilst the slate is wiped clean.โ€
