Warriors Together engages with charity and high schools

week two of ‘warriors together’ saw players visit locals high schools alongside hosting a session at robin park arena.

The ‘Warriors Together’ programme, which involves players engaging in weekly community activities throughout pre-season, saw the Club’s Community Foundation staff deliver skill-based sessions to students at Cansfield, Hawkley Hall and Standish High Schools.

Elsewhere, players attended a fun-fuelled session at Robin Park Arena with an adults group from WithYou – a charity who provide support and advice to more than 100,000 people a year.

Speaking on this week’s ‘Warriors Together’ activities, Sam Eseh Jr said: “It’s all about getting in amongst it. Community engagement is something Matt [Peet] pushes highly and everyone in the team gets behind and enjoys it.”

Eseh Jr added: “[Warriors Together] It’s great in joining many age groups through rugby league. Pre-season is intense but these engagements allow us to interact with the people we work hard for – it’s something we all enjoy.”

On supporting the weekly sessions with the charity, Wigan Warriors Community Foundation Lead, John Moss added: “It was fantastic to see a number of First Team lads muck in with the session on Tuesday afternoon, which saw plenty of encouragement and tips shared.

“Some people within the group haven’t played sports since leaving school so our aim is to build fitness whilst having fun. It’s great to see so many individuals participating with smiles on their faces.”
