Warriors increase Lancashire delivery to grow participation

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation have extended rugby league delivery in lancashire at Balladen Community Primary School.

Children from the Rossendale Primary School received an afternoon of fun-fuelled activities led by the Club’s Community Foundation staff as part of the Lancashire Rugby Development Plan.

Pupils engaged with an assembly on the history of Wigan Warriors before Mighty Max officially opened the School’s new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA). Foundation staff delivered rugby-based games throughout the afternoon which concluded with a picture alongside all four trophies.

The MUGA is one of several infrastructure upgrades at Balladen Community Primary School to help improve children’s mental and physical well-being, which is considered vital to a balanced curriculum.

Highlighting the importance of the delivery, Wigan Warriors Head of Community Foundation, Danny Fullerton said: “It was fantastic to see the whole school engage with our activities at the unveiling of the MUGA.

“This is a new school for our delivery, but due to the excitement of pupils, we are delighted to be extending this into the New Year. Alongside the delivery, we hope to welcome pupils from Balladen to The Brick Community Stadium for the first time in 2025.”

Wigan Warriors Rugby League Development Manager, John Whalley added: “We are boosting our engagement with Accrington Wildcats and schools in the local area to increase rugby league participation. Our aim for 2025 is to bring schools and their community together.”
